Documentation Updated and New Pro Features

We’ve cleaned up our documentation more and wrote up details of some new Ninite Pro features we’d been testing lately. The new Pro features are installing apps without desktop or quicklaunch shortcuts, installing apps with any auto-update features disabled, and installing apps for all users.

The install for all users feature just works for Google Chrome right now, but we plan to expand that to the other affected apps. Those are listed on the /allusers feature page.

Each of these features grew out of feedback we heard from Ninite users. We read it all and answer every email that leaves a reply address. Seriously. Try it.

For example, initially we didn’t think desktop shortcuts were a big deal for users to just delete on their own. Plus novice users don’t think software is installed unless it shows up on the desktop. It was only after hearing from some Pro users who were deploying software on thousands of machines at once that we realized Ninite was falling short here. That’s the story behind /disableshortcuts.

Like all Ninite feature updates they’re already live for any Ninite Pro or Ninite One installers that you may already have created.

While these new features are just for Ninite Pro users, everyone who’s using Ninite could probably learn something new and useful by browsing our help site. We present a simple interface to new users, but Ninite is really powerful below the hood and constantly improving.

Finally, we’ve added some instructions for using Ninite with a couple popular remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools. We’ve posted notes on using Ninite with Kaseya, and using Ninite with Labtech. If you know of any similar resources or information that we should post, please tell us.
